Digital Detox Tip January 3, 2018

Welcome to our third day of tips to make you feel good. Our goal is to send one daily tip that disconnects you from technology and benefits your health.

Today’s tip is to take a few minutes (or however long you want) to enjoy a cup of tea. Sit and sip your tea without looking at your phone or watching tv. Maybe read a book with your tea or just sit with your thoughts.

Today enjoy a relaxing tea break.

We welcome any question and comment!

Digital Detox Tip January 2, 2018

Welcome to our second day of tips to make you feel good. Our goal is to send one daily tip that disconnects you from technology and benefits your health.

Today’s tip is to spend some time (actually just one minute if that works best for you) meditating (deep breathing) before bed. Hopefully your bedroom is phone free at night (see yesterday’s tip). Before bed instead of looking at your phone or watching tv, close your eyes and concentrate on your breath (for one minute or what feels like a minute (no need to count the time). Take big inhales through your nose and soft exhales through your month. Repeat and concentrate on your breath. When you are finished open eyes. You should feel good and ready to sleep.

Enjoy more good sleep!

We welcome any question and comment!

The FIRST Digital Detox Tip

Happy New Year! Welcome to our first day of tips to make you feel good. Our goal is to send one daily tip that disconnects you from technology and benefits your health.

Our first tip is to use/buy an alarm clock. Get your phone out of your bedroom at night. Good sleep is so important. Stop spending time checking your phone before you go to sleep and first thing in the morning. Get your phone out of your room and if you use your phone as an alarm clock, ditch your phone and use a traditional alarm clock.

Enjoy the first day of 2018!

Start 2018 with the Digital Detox Diet

Of course the beginning of the year is the most popular time for resolutions. Especially resolutions related to health.

While making resolutions are exciting, most people are familiar with how quickly we forget our resolutions in the new year.

The Digital Detox Diet is not a quick fix diet but a way of life. Starting on January 1, 2018, we will send one simple daily tip each morning to your inbox. The tip will be a way to disconnect from technology and reconnect with you (all tips will be simple but will aim to increase your health overtime).

Read our About Us section and Click the follow us button in the lower right hand corner. The Digital Detox Diet process will be easy and fun!

Happy New Year!

About the Digital Detox Diet

The Digital Detox Diet theory is by reducing the amount of time you spend with technology you can focus on doing good things for your health. These good things you do for your health can increase your physical, mental/emotional, financial and social health.

By doing good things such as cooking from a new recipe, take a walk around your neighborhood, 10 minutes of easy going yoga, or sit down at dinner and have a conversation with your family. By putting your phone down (or turning off your tv, laptop, etc), you will find that you have loads of time to do good things for your health. These things do not involve surfing the internet (which is the opposite of doing something for your health… more on that later). All of these good things will add up to better overall health.

This approach to health by spending less time with technology is called the Digital Detox Diet.  This diet aims to have the same benefits and more of what someone would call a traditional diet. However, with the Digital Detox Diet, we go beyond just physical benefits but also look into mental/emotional, social and financial benefits (read on in our How We Detox and look for the $ sign for ways detoxing from technology can also save money).

The second Digital Detox Diet theory is keeping track of all your healthy activities.  All the little things you do for your health adds up and increases your health bank. What is your health bank? Your health bank is a hypothetical depository where you deposit all your healthy activities.  The more you deposit the healthier you become.  For example, if you don’t think you have time to go to the health club (or you don’t enjoy going to the gym), why not go for a 20-minute easy walk?  Just think of all the healthy benefits that will add up on your walk.  You will not only burn calories, but you will enjoy taking in the sights and sounds, noticed things you haven’t noticed before, have ideas pop up in your head, and so on.  You don’t have to carve out an hour or two to go to the gym every day. If you have a busy schedule you can find the time to do something for your health by limiting your screen time (lots of time spent looking at a screen has become a habit of so many of us). Also in the idea of the health bank is the idea that once you start accumulating more healthy habits, your health in other areas of life starts to improve and you discover even more healthy habits (snowball effect). Such as if you make that 20 minute walk a habit then you might start cooking a healthy breakfast each day and much more.

The third theory of the Digital Detox Diet, it is not difficult at all! Some people think of a diet as a hard and unpleasant process. The Digital Detox Diet is not a quick fix diet but with so many people addicted to technology that by doing this diet it will decrease the amount of time we spend online and find other easy and enjoyable things to do for our health that will add up over time.

So read on but don’t spend too much time here. Go out and live your life, be present. We will keep in touch and make this a community to share ideas but then to go out and act on those ideas.

Follow us for the most recent information (we will offer fun ways to detox from your digital life but we will not inundate you!). Some people find it useful to follow a plan when getting healthier. Each day we will email you one simple tip of the day to detox from your digital life and get healthier.
